It was Simple for Simon

Simon Hunt's enjoyment of his first season with the BAC increased on Sunday when he pocketed the winner's cheque in the Final of the Flack Advisory Grand Prix Series. Running strongly in the later part of the 6.5k event Simon overtook evergreen veteran Rick Ermel with a few hundred metres to go and from then on was under no pressure.

The Grand Prix Series, held this year for the first time, comprised 3 qualifying heats and a Final. 31 runners earned the right to contest the Final in which they competed for $2,000 in prize money, having shared another $1,000 in the earlier heats.

Terrific Thomas!

First year runner Thomas Roulston continued his rapid improvement by taking out Race 5 in the BAC 2016 Junior series. Emulating his brother Connor who won a race earlier this month, Thomas gave his opponents little hope by running strongly through the middle stages of the 1k event, and looked the likely winner 250 metres from home.

Fighting out the minor placings were the brother and sister duo of Olivia and Jaymin Boulton. Olivia finished full of running and the 10 second advantage she held at the finish will give her confidence that she can capture a victory at her next start.

Field for Flack Advisory Final Announced

On May 15 the Club will gather at No. 7 Reservoir again for the Final of the Flack Advisory Grand Prix Series. Over $2,000 prize money (of a total prize pool of $3,000) will be distributed amongst the 31 runners who have qualified for the Final and the favourite to take home the $1,250 first place purse is generally agreed to be … any one of the 31 in the field!

Invincible Ingrid!

It was a week before Mother’s Day but the 3rd heat of the Flack Advisory Grand Prix Series was virtually a one woman show. Ingrid Douglass started the race strongly, leaving the four men who began with her struggling in her wake.

Third Time Lucky for Georgia

Georgia Ryan claimed the Junior 1k event at only her 3rd start with the Club. At her previous start with the Club Georgia improved by 16 seconds from the week before and did the same again today, finding another 16 seconds to cover the 1k in 7:02.

Georgia ran strongly from the limit mark and made sure her competitors were never in the race, crossing the line 19 seconds clear of Thomas Roulston. Thomas just managed to hold off a fast-finishing Isabella Ellis who claimed 3rd place.
