It was Simple for Simon

Simon Hunt's enjoyment of his first season with the BAC increased on Sunday when he pocketed the winner's cheque in the Final of the Flack Advisory Grand Prix Series.  Running strongly in the later part of the 6.5k event Simon overtook evergreen veteran Rick Ermel with a few hundred metres to go and from then on was under no pressure.

The Grand Prix Series, held this year for the first time, comprised 3 qualifying heats and a Final.  31 runners earned the right to contest the Final in which they competed for $2,000 in prize money, having shared another $1,000 in the earlier heats.

After being presented with his winner's sash Simon made a point of thanking George Flack, Director of Flack Advisory for his generosity in supporting central Victorian running in general and the Bendigo Athletic Club in particular.

Despite being passed by the eventual winner Rick Ermel held on for second place with Joel Le Busque 11 seconds behind him in third.

With the conclusion of the Flack Advisory Grand Prix Series the BAC's regular season now continues, with Race 2 being staged at the Mandurang Cricket Ground on Sunday 22nd at 10:30 AM.
