Rhonda Runs Rings Round the Rest!

Bendigo Athletic Club members assembled on Sunday morning at Keith Noden's property in the Whipstick Forest for the 6.5k event sponsored by his son Phil. Metres after the start of the race Rhonda Schultz had taken the lead and didn't surrender it for the entire distance. In an impressive display of bold front-running Rhonda hit the finish line 5 seconds clear of the second placegetter.

Oliver's Magic Win

In a fiercely contested 1k Junior race at Keith Noden's property in the Whipstick Forest 5 seconds was all that separated the three placegetters. When the dust settled Oliver Stewart had run his fastest time (4:08) and claimed his first win with the Club.

Oliver had the difficult task of running down the determined Livinia Douglass while also keeping backmarker Emma Gilligan at bay. Oliver passed Livinia with about 150 metres to run and pulled away to win by 4 seconds.

Relay Winners Are Grinners

The Central Test sponsored Barry Stevenson Memorial Relays were held at No. 7 Reservoir on Sunday. Six teams of three competed with the winners being the husband and wife team of Rhonda and Richard Schultz and their 'adopted son' Simon Hunt. This trio ran strongly from start to finish but only hit the front in the last few hundred metres of the 9k event.

Tanner Triumphs

Tanner Fear ran his fastest time in his fourth start with the Club and in so doing ran himself to victory in Race 9 at No. 7 Reservoir on Sunday. Covering the 1k distance in the fast time of 4:03, Tanner gave his competitors no chance as he followed his big sister Jazlin's win in last week's event.

Jazlin backed up from her victory with a very creditable third place this time out, Harper-Lee Basten tenaciously holding on to second , making it three second places from her last three starts.

Rooster Crows Again!

Over 30 years after his first win with the Bendigo Athletic Club Chook Stewart is still adding to his collection of sashes. At Huntly on Sunday the determined veteran left the field gazing at his tail-feathers as he stormed to victory in the 8k Central Trophies and Gifts Handicap.

Chook's closest challenger on the day was Lachlan Perdon. By the finish Lachlan was a mere 9 seconds behind Chook despite conceding him 50 years in experience.
