Battle of the Backmarkers!

No. 7 Reservoir at Kangaroo Flat is the venue this Sunday for the third race of the Bendigo Athletic Club cross-country season, the Kel Pell 6500 metres Handicap.

The race is expected to be a contest between backmarkers Michael Preece and Josh Sait.  Last week only three seconds separated them and this week could be even closer.  Sait is a former Club Champion bouncing back from a 2014 season marred by injury and Preece is picked by many good judges as a young runner who hasn't yet fully realised his abundant talent.

Goode Triumphs Over All!

Pre-race favourite Ben Goode made light of the pressure in scoring a comfortable fifteen second victory in Race 2 of the Bendigo Athletic Club cross-country season.  Bendigo schoolteacher Goode gave his opponents a lesson in combining strength speed and stamina over a 5 kilometre distance.

Can the Goode guy ever Finish First?

Mandurang Cricket Ground is the venue this Sunday for the second race of the Bendigo Athletic Club cross-country season, the John Burke 6500 metres Handicap.

Race favourite is Catholic College teacher Ben Goode. The consistent Goode ran a string of seconds last year without ever breaking through for a win and this is his chance to go one better.

His main competition this week will be younger rival Kyall Britten and talented veteran Phil Noden. However with 1st Prize of $250 up for grabs there should be plenty of runners pushing for victory.

A Big Week for the Parkers!

The first week of the season for the Bendigo Athletic Club has started in fine style for the Parker family and the best is yet to come.

Young Jack Parker took out the Children’s 1km event in fine style, and then his father Adam rounded out the family’s successful day by posting his fastest 5km time to take out the Senior event.  While this might seem hard to top, Adam’s next major appearance is at his wedding next Saturday afternoon, so it seems his lucky streak is going to continue.
