Hilso finds his Mojo!

Classy veteran runner Greg Hilson has taken out Race 8 of the Bendigo Athletic Club’s cross country season to claim victory by the slender margin of just 2 seconds!  .  Hilson ran a strong and convincing race which was sponsored by the Boundary Hotel at No.

Connor Charges Clear

In the Children’s 1k Race at No. 7 Reservoir on Sunday Connor Findlay, who finished second at his last start, proved that was no fluke by going one better this time collecting his first victory of the season.  Finishing two seconds behind Connor, Ava Stewart was runner-up for the second time in a row and is now the hot favourite to win the next event.

The winner of the previous event Isabella Ellis again ran strongly for third place, holding off Emma Gilligan who finished fourth and ran the fastest time of 3:49 for the 1k distance.

Local Boy to Make Good?

No. 7 Reservoir at Kangaroo Flat is the venue this Sunday for the eighth race of the Bendigo Athletic Club cross-country season, the Boundary Hotel 3000 metres Handicap.  The hot favourite for the race is local Kangaroo Flat runner John Bailey.

Bailey is in excellent form having finished second in the last two Club races and needs to break through for a win.  John is unlikely to have it all his own way however with plenty of others, led by Brett Gilligan and Kane Ellis, looking to upstage him and grab the win and the accompanying $250.

Big Guns Fire at the Rifle Range

It was a race in two at the Wellsford Rifle Range for the Bendigo Athletic Club’s seventh event of the season on Sunday.  Wily veterans John Bailey and Paul Bennett started from the same handicap and spent the race dueling each other before Bennett finally prevailed, crossing the line 3 seconds ahead of Bailey.  Paul started the season slowly but has worked his way into form and must now be rated one of the best chances for the BAC’s season-long Aggregate Award.

Isabella Leads the Way

In the Children’s 1k Race at the Wellsford Rifle Range on Sunday Isabella Ellis bounced back from a knee injury two weeks ago to lead from start to finish collecting her first victory of the season.  Emma Gilligan finished second and ran fastest time, holding off Ava Bibby in third.

Despite showing her dad, Kane, how it was done he could only manage third in the Senior race leaving Isabella with bragging rights in the Ellis household for the week.
