McMahon Cruises to Victory in Race 6!

First year runner Joey McMahon has taken out the win in race 6 of the Bendigo Athletic Club.

27 runners contested the Rising Hotel sponsored 6.5km at Crusoe Reservoir.

A cold, wet and windy day didn’t hinder the efforts of McMahon who raced off on a handicap of 6:30 with the challenge of chasing down 7 other participants.

In the final km’s of the race, McMahon passed Melinda Gilligan and Demi Goodall-Hoffman to take the lead whilst holding off middle markers Brett Gilligan and Ingrid Douglas in win by a margin of 25 seconds.

Edward Shows No Fear of the Cold!

Only a field of three juniors braved the wintery conditions to race the 1km event with Edward Boase finally claiming victory and achieving fastest time in 4:46.

A first year competitor with the club, Edward has come close to victory in 5 races during the season including two 2nds and a 3rd before finally snatching a 1st in this Sundays race.
