Melinda Gilligan has stormed through Sundays field of 32 runners to win race 10 of the Bendigo Athletic Club.
Gilligan raced off a 1:10 handicap to claim victory in the Boundary Hotel sponsored event.
Gilligan was the 4th runner to start in the 3km race at No. 7 Reservoir with the race resulting in a front marker dominated event with two of the runners that started in front of Gilligan ‘Matt Cutler’ and ‘Kerry Ellis’ finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Sundays victory marks the second win for the Gilligan’s, with Melinda’s husband ‘Brett Gilligan’ also having a win earlier in the season over the 8km distance at Huntly.
The race was also Gilligan’s first win since winning the Dick Kitt final back in 2013.
Fastest time honours returned to Jacob Nolan after a weekend of absence with Nolan running a time of 9:53 to beat 2nd fastest Ben Goode from a time of 10:45. Fastest of the females went to Ingrid Douglass in a time of 12:32.
Next weekend will be a special event, with the club’s annual Barry Stevenson Relay commencing at 10:30am at the No. 7 Reservoir.
