One of if not the youngest runner, ‘Sebastian Rossi’ has won race 8 of the Bendigo Athletic Club.
Only 11 years old, Rossi on Sunday, took his place amongst the pantheon of race winners to win the 6.5km event in a time of 30:16.
A first-year runner with the club, Rossi ran three 17th placings including a 20th placing in previous season races before taking out the Schultz and Stewart sponsored event.
With a starting handicap of 8:20, Rossi set off with co-marker Charlie Wardrop and started making his move through the field of 28 runners.
Working his way through the 6.5km course, Rossi took off from Wardrop and caught the six runners in front of him one by one until he eventually held the lead.
Backmarkers Dan Ryan and Ben Goode made a desperate attempt to catch Rossi but the younger runner proved to good by winning with a comfortable margin of 35 seconds from Dan Ryan in 2nd and Ben Goode in 3rd.
