First year runner Joey McMahon has taken out the win in race 6 of the Bendigo Athletic Club.
27 runners contested the Rising Hotel sponsored 6.5km at Crusoe Reservoir.
A cold, wet and windy day didn’t hinder the efforts of McMahon who raced off on a handicap of 6:30 with the challenge of chasing down 7 other participants.
In the final km’s of the race, McMahon passed Melinda Gilligan and Demi Goodall-Hoffman to take the lead whilst holding off middle markers Brett Gilligan and Ingrid Douglas in win by a margin of 25 seconds.
A massive improvement from McMahon saw the new club member smash his previous 6.5km time by 2 minutes and 52 seconds.
Brett Gilligan achieved another 2nd placing on top of his previous 2nd placing out at Whipstick while Ingrid Douglas has moved up the placings into 3rd position.
Jacob Nolan received fastest time in 22:59 while Ingrid Douglas ran fastest time for the women in 28:20.
Race 7 will be an 8km race held next Sunday 24th June, 10:30am at the Huntly Livestock Exchange.
