Race 2 of the Bendigo Athletic Club has been won with ease by young club runner, Lachlan Perdon.
33 runners lined up in the 6.5km John Burke handicap sponsored by Mark and Helen Ruff held out at No.7 Reservoir.
Starting off on a handicap of 12 minutes and 30 seconds with fellow club runners ‘Rick Ermel’ and ‘Nick Edwards’, Perdon had some work to do to fend of Ermel and Edwards as well as catch the 21 runners in front of him.
Perdon timed his race to perfection, storming past Chook Stewart and Melinda Gilligan in the last 500m of the race to win by a margin of 12 seconds, which also earnt Perdon 1st place in the Under 23 category.
2nd to the line and 1st in the Veterans category was Chook Stewart with Melinda Gilligan coming in at 3rd and 1st in the women’s and open categories.
Earlier this year, Perdon won the final of the flack advisory distance series held at the Tom Flood Sports Centre.
