Richard Rises to the Occasion

32 seconds was the margin when Richard Schultz crossed the line in Sunday’s AL Parker Electrical 5k Handicap held at the Wellsford Rifle Range.  For the second week in a row Paul Bennett ran strongly to clinch second place, but never looked likely to catch Richard.

With wife Rhonda having won a race earlier in the season Richard needed to win to get back on level terms and wasn’t going to allow anything to stop him.  Following Paul Bennett in second place was John Bailey in third.

Paul and John are both finding form at the end of the season and have strong claims for the next two races.  Another who has found form and been able to maintain it right through the season was Michael Preece who ran Fastest Time in all 12 of this season’s regular season races.  Demi Goodall-Hoffman was again the fastest woman in the event.

Attention now switches to next week’s no-points, no-penalty 3.2km race.  While the event won’t influence the Aggregate Points situation, it is a chance for all runners to tune up for the Dick Kitt Final, and grab a sash and $300 on the way past.
