After only having three races last season due to Year 12 study commitments it took Demi Goodall-Hoffman a few races to find form and fitness but on Sunday at No. 7 Reservoir in the Boundary Hotel 3km Handicap it all came together. Demi ran her fastest time since August 2014 and left the field in her wake to cross the line 19 seconds ahead of her closest competitor.
Kerry Ellis and Richard Schultz had a great battle over the last kilometre with Richard eventually prevailing to secure second place, four seconds ahead of Kerry. These two will now be looking to resume battle next week with a winners sash as the prize.
The rest of the field weren’t far behind the placegetters, with all runners finishing within 2 minutes of the winner. Fastest women’s and men’s times on the day went to Ingrid Douglass and Michael Preece respectively.
The next race on the Club calendar is the Schultz and Stewart 6.5km handicap to be held at Notley’s Picnic Area in the Whipstick. Despite recent rain Course Marker John Bailey reports that the race circuit is in good condition and with no more rain forecast runners can be expected to turn in fast times.
