Mandurang is the toughest course on the race calendar and when a field of 11 tackled the 1k course on Sunday it was last year’s Junior Aggregate Champion Isabella Ellis who came out on top. Starting 5 seconds behind Isabella, Baxter Parker challenged her all the way but Isabella crossed the line 10 seconds clear to break through for her first win for the season.
Baxter hung on for second place, 3 seconds ahead of the fast finishing Jaymin Boulton. Jaymin and Baxter are expected to fight out the next race, to be held at No. 7 Reservoir on Sunday July 10.
Fastest time on the day was Jazlin Fear’s 4:08, an excellent effort on a track which is generally considered to be about 25 seconds slower than most of the 1k course’s on the Club’s calendar.
