Wish Granted

After disrupted  training over the summer Grant Findlay approached this season more with hope than expectation.  However after finishing in the first 10 in 5 of his first 6 starts he started to believe that his wish to claim a sash this year might come true after all.

Late in Sunday’s 6.5k race at Woodvale though doubts started to creep in as the chasing pack made inroads on his lead and he wondered if the lack of conditioning would start to take its toll.  Digging deep for determination that few believed he possessed though Grant toughed it out over the final kilometre and relegated Ingrid Douglass to 2nd place for the second week in a row.

Finishing 3rd was Richard Schultz who’s plucky run kept backmarker Michael Preece out of the placings despite his Fastest Time for the event of an excellent 21:53.

After consecutive placings Ingrid may be considered favourite for this Sunday’s 8k event to be held at the Huntly Livestock Exchange but she’s unlikely to have it all her own way.  She may find a pair of Schultz’s nipping at her heels with not only Richard but also longer distance specialist Rhonda putting in a claim for this race, particularly as they have the Huntly home-ground advantage.
