With the finish in sight Harper-Lee Basten thought she was going to claim her first win in a Junior race at Woodvale on Sunday. That was until Jack Parker flashed past her in the finishing straight and went on to win Race 7 by three seconds. Jack won two races last season and will now be looking to pick up another victory before this season is over.
Harper-Lee managed to hang on for second place from a fast-finishing Oliver Stewart, who crossed the line only six seconds behind her. Fastest time on the day was recorded by Jaymin Boulton, with a speedy 4:05 for the 1k distance. This time was a personal best for Jaymin.
After coming second twice in a row Harper-Lee has her sights set on going one better this Sunday at Huntly, but Oliver Stewart and Baxter Parker are aiming to upset her plans.
