It was a battle of the friends in Sunday Junior 1k event with Olivia Boulton passing Harper-Lee Basten in the shadows of the post to take first place. These two had left the rest of the field in their wake as they concentrated on their tussle for victory, with a 20-second gap until Olivia's brother Jaymin Boulton crossed the line in 3rd place narrowly holding off the fast-finishing Emma Gilligan.
Emma ran the fastest time of the race, an excellent 3:38 for the 1k distance. The only runner to get anywhere near Emma's time was new runner Jazlin Fear who also broke 4 minutes with a great first-up 3:57.
The challenge for the other runners is to try to find a way to get near Harper-Lee at the Club's next event at Woodvale this Sunday at 11:15 AM. She'll start firm favourite but will have a group of other juniors plotting to deprive her of the win.
