First year runner Lachlan Perdon claimed the first heat of the Bendigo Athletic Club’s Flack Advisory Grand Prix Series at No. 7 Reservoir in Kangaroo Flat on Sunday. In a closely contested race Lachlan won by 6 seconds with the next 12 runners separated by only 15 seconds.
Perhaps the most satisfying part of the victory for Lachlan was that, having started off the same handicap as his father, Club President Mark, the younger Perdon bested the old man by an emphatic 42 seconds.
Joel Le Busque held off two first-starters, Els Vester and Glen Roulston, to claim 2nd place. Fastest time of the day went to Michael Preece who covered the 3k distance in 9:41. Fastest of the 6 women in the field was Els Vester who finished the journey in 11:46.
The second heat of the Flack Advisory Grand Prix Series will also be held at No. 7 Reservoir next Sunday April 24.
