Noden Shows Off His Will To Win!

Pre-race favourite Will Noden has raced to an impressive 20 second victory in Race Nine of the Bendigo Athletic Club’s season, the Boundary Hotel 3000 metres held at No.7 Reservoir at Crusoe Park, Bendigo on Sunday. In his first year racing in the senior class, 13 year old Will ran a time of 11.01 minutes, to run the 9th fastest time of the 36 participants.

Second place in the event went to the winner of Race Two, Kyle Hilson, whilst regular placegetter & eldest brother of the winner, Jesse Noden finished in third place.

Jesse has now racked up two seconds & two thirds, following on from placings last season!

Timon Dooley recorded the fastest time of 9.42 for the 3Km course ahead of Phil Noden & Jacob Nolan who both recorded 9.55 minutes.

Fastest for the women was Jessica O’Hara in 12.05 minutes in front of first time BAC runner Anne Buckley in 12.50 with Kerrieanne Hocking next best in 13.22 minutes.

First time runner Anne Buckley claimed maximum points in the Flack Advisory Veteran’s Award ahead of brothers Phil & Peter Noden.

In the open category it was Melinda Gilligan taking the top points ahead of Daniel Ryan & Brett Gilligan.

The Bendigo Original Pie Shop Ladies Award saw Melinda Gilligan back at the top, earning maximum points with Anne Buckley second and Lyn Crome in third place.

The top three placegetter took out the took points in the Liz and Mark Findlay U23 Award , with Will Noden, Kyle Hilson & Jesse Noden smashing the oldies!

Connor Findlay clean up the 1000 metre children’s race ahead of Ava Bibby & Emma Gilligan.

There will be no race this weekend, as the club celebrates its 40th Anniversary at the Shamrock Hotel on Saturday night, so if you have been involved in the club at any time over the past 40 years and you would like to come along, please contact the club for further details.

The next race will be held on Sunday 3rd August, being the Viatek 8000 metre handicap, once again, back out at No.7 Reservoir at Crusoe Park in Kangaroo Flat.
