Backmarker Matthew Noden showed the field how it was done in the Kid's 1 Kilometre event at No. 7 Reservoir in Kangaroo Flat on Sunday morning.  Giving the rest of the field starts of up to 1 minute and 20 seconds Matthew ran strongly, recording Fastest Time of 3:43 for the distance, crossing the line 2 seconds ahead of Isabella Ellis.

Isabella powered to the finish to grab second place, holding off Connor Findlay by 3 seconds with Emma Gilligan close behind in fourth place.  The win was Matthew's second of the season, joining Jack Parker as the only runners to score dual victories so far this season.

Next week's race at Mandurang shapes as an intriguing contest.  Isabella has had the better of Connor in the last two events but Connor seems to be improving rapidly, while Emma also has claims if she can re-find her best form.  And when Ava Stewart returns from holiday she may leave them all in her wake ...
