Not Easy at Notley's

Bendigo Athletic Club’s next race is the Viatek 6.5Km handicap event on Sunday, July 26th at Notley’s Reserve in the Whipstick Forest.  In a season in which winners have been difficult to pick this race promises to be a tipster's nightmare.

To add to the possibly difficult conditions underfoot there are at least half a dozen obvious chances to win this race: Last week's second-placegetter Brett Gilligan, the runner-up in the two previous races John Bailey, Gab Sait who is running better than ever before, Reza Azimi's improving with every run, the wily veteran Austin Beamish who's not too far away from finding his best form and the ever-consistent Ingrid Douglass is waiting for an opportunity to surprise them all.  And I haven't even mentioned Kane Ellis, Mark Perdon and Joel Le Busque!

While you would expect the winner to come from this group, if this season has shown us anything it's that we should expect the unexpected.  To have a look at the event head out the Neilborough Road until the road changes to gravel and then continue on until you see the signs, it’s well marked.  There will be a children’s 1km race at 10am, with the main race again starting at 10.30am.
