Funky cold Adina wins Flack Advisory Winter Classic

After a frantic last minute drive through the outer suburbs of Bendigo and a rushed warm up, causing her to miss the start slightly, Adina Morrow still managed to record her first VCCL win in Sunday’s Flack Advisory Handicap. On her first trip to Woodvale, Adina was guided to the venue over the phone by Mark Findlay.

After just missing her “go” time she set out after her co marker Richard Schultz, working her way to the lead and holding on for a narrow victory. Adina left the wooded area of Recreation Reserve with 400 metres to travel and had a commanding lead but Joel Donnar and Adam Parker were running home strongly. As the finish line was reached Adina had three seconds to spare from Joel who just edged out Adam over the last few metres. Adina, after having last winter away from the VCCL to play women’s football, has shown her best form this season, highlighted by a career best effort in the recent club relay.

Eric Sapac ran a great race to finish fourth just in front of the fastest female Corina Kapusta (24:46). Next in were the veterans Tony Sait, Leon Brooks, Phil Noden, Hugo Sapa and Alan McCullen, completing the top ten. The fastest time was recorded by Luke Searle (21:45) with Josh Sait (22:06) the second fastest. The first unplaced novice was Bendigo’s Reza Azimi.

Many thanks once again to Flack Advisory for the continued sponsorship of the event. As has been the case for over twenty years the VCCL and BAC combined event was sponsored by Bendigo club stalwart George Flack.
