Old Chook Beats Young Gun In Nursery Race

Race Seven of the Bendigo Athletic Club cross country season, the Purtill’s Nursery 8000 metre handicap was won by wily old veteran Chook Stewart in an excellent over 60’s time of 33.11 minutes. The Chook looked more like the ‘Road Runner’ on the weekend, as he was being hunted down by the ‘Coyote’ Jesse Noden, but the ‘Chook’ had too many tricks up his sleeve around Crusoe Reservoir, winning by 10 seconds.

Parker Pips Chook By A Feather At Woodlands

Adam Parker has won the most recent race of the Bendigo Athletic Club season by the narrowest of margins, in the VM & HM Drechsler 8000 metre Sealed Handicap held in Melbourne at the back of Tullamarine Airport at Woodlands Historical Park on Sunday morning.

Through persistent rain, Parker pipped Chook Stewart by just one second, to claim the $250 local prizemoney & sash, with Jessica O’Hara in third place.
