Bendigo Athletic Club is located in central Victoria and was established in 1974 to cater for athletes of all genders, ages and abilities. The season goes from April through to September for people who want to run distance or middle distance. We meet on Sunday mornings in serene bush settings in and around the Bendigo region. The Club promotes athletics as an enjoyable healthy alternative for people of all ages and abilities. Times don't matter as much as Health, Fitness and Fun!
Great news with the lifting of Covid Restrictions, we can announce that the 34th Annual Distance Series will commence this Thursday night with the running of Race 1 of a 10 race series over 1000 metres. Sponsored by Flack Advisory as per usual, however, it will be now known as the Bendigo Athletic Club Distance Series sponsored by Flack Advisory. This week's Flack Advisory 1000 metres will commence at 7.15pm, with athletes required to report to the Club rooms at the Tom Flood Sports Centre by 6.45pm.
Wind never deterred our enthusiasm for our social run. We had runners that ran varied distances ranging from 3000m, 5500m, 7500m, 8000m & 10,000m followed by a bite to eat at the Bridge Hotel.
Come and join us on our next Social Run on November 22nd.
Today’s legend is long time member and sponsor George Flack. George Joined the Bendigo Athletics Club in its infancy in 1976. George was coached by fellow BAC Life Member John Burke for the entirety of his running career and owes a lot of his success on the track to Burkey’s training and guidance.
